🌟100 subscribers🌟 - milestones & my writing journey
Sharing with you all a few snapshots of my writing life thus far and tell you what I’m looking forward to in 2025.
Reaching 100 subscribers feels like such a meaningful milestone because it reminds me that my words resonate with real people. Knowing that 100 of you have chosen to follow along motivates me to keep writing, exploring new ideas, and sharing stories that matter.
It’s a reminder that even in a world overflowing with content, there’s a place for the unique perspective I bring—and that inspires me to keep creating with purpose!
First, I want to say that I am so thankful for each reader.
Seeing this milestone reminds me why I started writing in the first place: to connect, to share practical tips, and to encourage others to make small changes that make a big impact.
🌟Thank you for being here!! 🌟
Who I Write For
From the very beginning, I have been writing with very specific readers in mind.
Women in their 20s and 30s wondering when adulting stops feeling like a group project with no leader.
Busy professionals who have 37 tabs open, but still can’t find time for self-care.
Readers of productivity literature who want relatable advice without the need for a highlighter and a dictionary.
Women experiencing burnout who need a guide to help them say “no” without guilt (or needing an elaborate excuse).
Perfectionists who color-code their to-do lists but can’t figure out which task to do first (spoiler: it’s probably rest).
Mothers balancing family, work, and wanting to have hobbies other than laundry.
Those interested in personal growth who are tired of self-help books that feel like homework assignments.
Young adults feeling torn by societal expectations who just want permission to listen to their inner voice.
Anyone transitioning through life stages who could use a manual with bullet points and humor.
Did you resonate with this list?

My Writing Journey
My blog: www.EmbracingHome.blog
I started writing articles for my blog in 2021. They were long-form posts (typically over 1,000 words) full of resources and practical solutions that I learned in my healing from burnout. I wrote consistently posting 2 times per week and growing my email list slowly.
My book: Subtle Resistance
In January of 2023, I realized (with the help of my editor and writing coach Stacie) that I had written over 120,000 words in articles on my blog. My desire to “someday write a book” suddenly felt like a tangible goal. I dove head-first into the process. I spent 6 months deep in “book writing mode” taking content from my blog and also writing entirely new chapters.
By summer it was completed at 62,000 words and entering the editing phase. Thus began the intense rounds of self-edits, Beta readers, and peer edits. Stacie got diagnosed with cancer in October and the book project got put on hold. [read about that here or listen here]
This summer I considered traditional publishing, created a book proposal, took some classes, and did another intense edit.
My Substack: April Edwards [Embracing Home]
I am part of an online group full of amazing homeschool moms led by Leah Boden (The Collective). In December 2023 we switched platforms and found a new home on Substack. Inspired by the vibrant community I saw on Substack, I decided to start my own.
My goal was to create concise, meaningful posts that respect my readers' time.
When I first started writing in 2021 I covered a variety of topics on my blog (over 10 categories). But shifting to Substack 3 years later felt like a new beginning and I narrowed my focus. I try to deliver practical ideas without the fluff.
In this past year, I have written 100 posts focused on productivity, homemaking, seasonal rhythms, and planning.
My Podcast: Subtle Resistance
In August of 2024, I shifted my attention from book edits to learning the tools of podcasting. I have created 14 episodes and it has been fun to work on writing and publishing in a new way.

This photo that I sent to my sisters recently sums up how I feel about all the writing work that I have done in the past few years.
I tend to take things very seriously and move forward with serious momentum. 😜 This might explain why I have been feeling a bit worn down this fall/winter season. [read more about that here]
What’s Next?
Substack:
I have some helpful posts scheduled and ready to drop in your inbox in January. Including a very personal post in honor of my 23rd anniversary.
The Subtle Resistance Podcast:
I’m excited to bring you more episodes filled with practical tips, and relatable stories.
My goal? To keep things light, engaging, and absolutely burnout-free.
Life is already demanding, so let’s tackle it together with realistic strategies that leave room for rest and joy. Whether you’re here for a moment of reflection or just a breather from the chaos, I’ve got you covered. Grab your coffee (or the laundry you’ve been ignoring) and join me.
My Book:
If I had a magic wand my book would have been published in early 2023, but the whole process takes a loooong time (+ delays caused by me). So my goal is to move that forward and it would be awesome if I could have it out by summer. We will see! 🤞
If you are part of my Substack community, you will be the first to hear of any updates. (Plus some fun events and freebies when it gets close to the book launch!) 😁
Our online world is so full of voices and content that it can feel overwhelming.
I deeply appreciate that you are taking the time to read my words. It means the world to me that you keep coming back, take the time to comment, and continue reading my new posts.
Here’s to 100 of you—and here’s to all the practical tips and personal stories still waiting to be told.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me!
