Spring - What is unique to this season?
If I am being completely honest, spring is a lot of work! How I make the best of it and what my spring rhythms look like...
Each season I shift what I am focused on. I find specific themes come back every year and I have goals unique to each season. I am a mom with 4 kids, I homeschool, care for my home, and write. I have a variety of roles I focus on.
Here are some examples of patterns I have found in my seasonal rhythms:
Spring: March, April, May
the vibe: getting schoolwork done, enjoying nature, household deep cleaning, fun with friends, spending time outside
planning: spring break, finishing the school year, summer planning, vacation plans, summer camp sign ups
things I think about: finishing well, building relationships, organizing my home, my writing goals
In the spring, my focus is basic maintenance and spring cleaning projects.
I am very busy with homeschooling and writing during the week. I keep the pantry stocked, make simple meals, and get the weekly household cleaning done.
Audiobooks become my companion as I get deep cleaning tasks done on the weekends. I enjoy organizing projects on a few Saturdays. I take the time to go through our closets and donate clothing that no longer fits the kids. I declutter the pantry and clean out the school closet.
Spring is a natural reset for our home.
It is also the perfect time for camping and off-roading in the Arizona desert (before the summer heat sets in). So we balance time at home with being out in nature.

Most of what I see on Instagram or Pinterest is about how Spring is a beautiful time of year. I do not agree. Spring is hard for me.
If I am being completely honest, spring is a lot of work. It is finishing the school year well, deep cleaning the house, organizing my home (and often the finances).
Spring is often when overwhelm and fatigue set in.
In the Arizona desert spring means that the summer heat is coming. It is also when the Palo Verde trees bloom and share pollen along with their beautiful yellow blossoms.
So, I make the best of it. I try to enjoy the beauty while in the midst of taking my next right steps (along with the allergy meds). I look for things to be thankful for. I write out the dreaded “Gratitude Lists”. I go for long walks and notice the blossoms on the trees, the fresh flowers planted by neighbors, and the new summer grass.
I also work on my rhythms and routines.
I take a deep look at what is working and what is weighing me down.
Often I make changes. What worked a few months ago does not work now (and vice versa). And that is okay. It is not a failure on my part, its just a change in the season.
What about you?
Do you like spring?
What is it like in your climate this month?
What is working for you?
What needs to change?
Maybe you are like me… you are also a member of the “Meh About Spring” fan club. (I totally wish that was a thing!) Know that you are not alone.
Let me walk alongside you in this season as we move forward with intention.
