Unfiltered & Unscripted - Live Q+A

A recording from April Edwards's live video
1

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video!

In my Substack Live event I chatted about procrastination, creativity, writing and a few recent reads (including a book I was disappointed by).

Reader Questions:

Adalyn: Do you have any tips to help with procrastination?

  • Mark Mason - Solved Podcast

  • Ask yourself the 5 why’s - Journal or talk with a trusted friend:

    • Why am I procrastinating on this? …Why?… Why? …Why? …Why?

  • Usually it gets to piece of friction that is easy to solve but not obvious at the start.

  • Or it goes to an identity piece that we don’t know we are dealing with.

How do you deal with writers’ block that has been going on for a while?

  • Sometimes there are seasons that writing flows naturally and then other times when our focus needs to be in other places, and that is okay.

  • What is your focus in this season? Are there other times when writing feels easier?

  • I have a quote from Benjamin Franklin on my bookshelf near my desk: “Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing.”

  • What are you enjoying that feeds your creativity?

    • try new hobbies

    • read excellent books (fiction, non-fiction, different genres)

    • spend time in nature

    • have great conversations with compelling people - stories and ideas help us feel alive

    • listen to music, draw, journal, go to an art gallery… 😃

Other Questions Answered:

  • Do you have a hobby that surprised you by how much you enjoy it?

  • What’s the last book you couldn’t put down?

  • What is a book you recently DNF (did not finish)?

    • I feel a bit guilty sharing this one… 😉 Normally l like his books!

  • and a bit about my office companions 🐈🐈‍⬛🐶🐕

I hope this Q+A was helpful to you!

I really want this to be a space where we discuss what matters to you and what is on your heart right now. Reader feedback means so much to me.

Have a beautiful day and a restful weekend!
